Stop what you’re doing and sign up for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of rappelling down 17-story Avista Resort! Not only will you get the experience of a lifetime (complete with sweeping oceanfront views!), but you’ll also help change the lives of those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction across the Grand Strand.
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, the first 92 participants who have raised a minimum of $1,000 will have the opportunity to go Over The Edge. – Don’t worry, we make it easy and provide you with all the tools you need for successful fundraising, including a personalized fundraising website!
Whether you are fearless, or looking to overcome a fear, you can be a part of this extreme experience AND make a huge impact on the fights to end homelessness, poverty, and addiction in your community.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The event is open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian, and all participants must be within the 100 to 300 pound required weight range (as per Over The Edge safety standards). IS THIS SAFE?
We’re glad you asked! Over The Edge events are not like your typical rappel – all OTE staff are highly trained industrial rope specialists with IRATA or SPRAT certifications and OTE rappel rigs are set up to meet OSHA industrial at-height worksite standard Over The Edge has an impeccable safety record – over 100,000 people have gone over the edge through events all over the world, with more than 250 events hosted each year. HOW WILL FUNDS RAISED BE USED?
100% of the proceeds raised from Over The Edge will support New Directions’ mission to help people recover from the crises of homelessness, poverty, and addiction by providing basic needs, connection to resources, and community support.
ABOUT NEW DIRECTIONS
New Directions, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization is the largest provider of shelter to those experiencing homelessness in the Grand Strand and operates shelters for men, women, and families with children. In addition to serving approximately 1,000 individuals each year through nights of shelter, New Directions offers nightly community dinner, a shower and laundry facility, and operates a peer support program, Addiction & Recovery Outreach (ARO) serving Horry and Georgetown Counties.
