From the Desk of Kathy Jenkins - Q1
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying these summer months. As we step into our 12th fiscal year, I am thrilled to share some important updates and highlights from New Directions.
First, I am pleased to announce that our 2024-2025 fiscal year budget has been approved by our dedicated Board of Directors. Thanks to their unwavering commitment and strategic guidance, New Directions continues to operate soundly. However, it’s important to note that we remain deeply reliant on our fundraising efforts and the generosity of donors to sustain our vital programs and services.
This year, we have set an ambitious fundraising goal of $1.35 million, marking a 5% increase over last year's actuals. Reaching this target is essential for covering our projected operating budget, expanding our reach, and enhancing our support for individuals facing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Your contributions make an incredible difference, and we are profoundly grateful for your continued support.
Speaking of fundraising, I am excited for our third annual "Over the Edge" event, taking place on Saturday, September 7, 2024. This adrenaline-pumping fundraiser offers participants the unique opportunity to safely rappel down a towering 17-story building, descending a heart-pounding 164 feet—all in support of New Directions' mission.
Having gone "Over the Edge" myself, I can personally attest to the exhilaration and profound significance of this experience. When I consider the insurmountable challenges our clients face, being edged out of their comfort zones and into homelessness, it makes this challenge even more worthwhile. I encourage you to join us in this thrilling endeavor to support our cause.
If you want to help, but aren’t interested in rappelling, please spread the word to your more adventurous friends and family and consider donating to the rappeler of your choice, your involvement is invaluable to us.
Thank you once again for your steadfast support and generosity. Together, we can continue to empower individuals to overcome the obstacles of homelessness, poverty, and addiction and make a lasting impact in our community.
With gratitude,
Kathy Jenkins
