Taylor’s Story

Reluctant to stay in a homeless shelter, but desperate to leave an unsafe family situation, Taylor, age 20, and her son, Malachi, moved in. After only 3 days in our family shelter, Taylor described her stay; “For years I woke up in the morning with dread. Since being here, I wake up happy and hopeful… Words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for this chance at a good life for my son and I…Thank you”. Taylor met with our case manager twice a day to achieve her goals, quickly securing jobs as a makeup artist and a waitress. COVID caused a temporary set-back, but since, Taylor and Malachi have secured housing and successfully exited our shelter. Taylor has asked to return to volunteer for us.
